Optional Day Tour (Not Included) – Half Day Tour, Markets, Cave Pools & Chef

Take a half day guided private tour of Beautiful Samoa with your personal chef!

Operates Monday – Saturday

Includes Return hotel transfers (hotels outside of Apia may require an additional fee).

You’ll love this private food-focused tour of Upolu and Savaii. Run by husband and wife, Kopelani Tu’uama (aka Chef John) and Irlene Mokaraka, the duo and their team will provide you with a unique opportunity to explore Samoa’s food culture and beautiful landscapes.

Chef John is not only passionate about food, which stems from his many years of experience working in cafes in Samoa. He is also passionate about his Samoan culture and his people. Throughout the tour you’ll not only visit the local markets, but also some roadside stalls to purchase the freshest produce Samoa has to offer, contributing to the livelihoods of the people relying on their sales to provide for their families.

The Half Day Tour first takes you to the local fish markets in downtown Apia, as well as the Fugalei Fruit & Vege Market where Chef John will walk you through and highlight foods unique to Samoa. While at the markets, Chef John will pick from the organically grown seasonal fruit & vegetables, and fresh seafood – the ingredients for lunch later on in the tour.

Your next stop is to try the best keke pu’aa (steamed pork bun) on the island. Then it’s on to Piula Cave Pool for a refreshing swim, and while you cool off, Chef John will prepare and cook your Samoan-inspired meal. Your tour then ends with a stop at a local shop for a taste of locally made ice cream.

Upgrade to a full-day tour is available with the addition of a drive out to the Southside of Upolu to visit the attractions Lalomanu Beach, To Sua Trench and Togitogiga Waterfall.

4 Nights' Accommodation in Savai'i, Samoa

Spend 4 nights situated on the eastern coast of Savai’i, just 20 minutes from the ferry terminal and less than a minute’s walk across to the spectacular turquoise lagoon.

Includes daily Tropical Breakfast

Amoa Resort is just off the main road, but as there is very little traffic in Savai’i, you’ll experience true peacefulness on this unspoiled island.

This boutique resort has the facilities needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay, including a full service restaurant which serves quality and innovative international cuisine, as well as traditionally inspired Samoan dishes prepared from only the freshest of locally sourced ingredients.

Lounge by the resort pool while you sip on a cold beverage from the swim up pool bar, or take a stroll across the road and bask in the warm sun.  Snorkel or kayak the waters and enjoy the breath-taking views of the ocean.

The resort has three Polynesian inspired room types to choose from. Each one is stand-alone and placed around the pool to allow for relaxed views to the lush gardens, pool, and restaurant from their patios. They each also feature a private outdoor shower in a tropical setting.

The Deluxe Bungalows sit closest to the road and seaside. The interior is spacious and its layout is similar to that of a studio with a lounge area. This category is a great choice for couples and small families.

The Poolside Villas are of similar layout to the bungalows but offer extra comfort and space, complete with a large private bathroom and an out-door tropical garden shower. The main king bed sits on an upper level of the room which is sectioned off from the single beds, or the second king, and the lounge area on the lower level.

The Family Poolside Villas are identical to the Poolside Villas, with the addition of a pull over curtain between the king bed on the upper level to allow for privacy from the beds on the lower level.

During your stay, take time to explore the island to visit the popular tourist sites, as well as meet the locals. There are a variety of tours to choose from, many of which are based around the Samoan way of life, learning about the rich culture, history and traditions of the Samoan people.

There is a sense of peace and relaxation at this resort. It has its own unique personality, and having only 13 rooms in total, allows its staff to go over and beyond to provide their guests with personal and quality service.

Recently completed is the new extension of the resort's jetty, along with a new sand platform for use by resort guests only. There’s a lot of great snorkeling here, and the kayaking is just as amazing. There are tables for guests to sit and enjoy lunch or a cold beverage, and the views of the turquoise lagoon and ocean beyond are just spectacular.

Optional Day Tour (Not Included) – Savai'i North Coast Tour

This 5 hour tour of the northern coast of Savai’i will take you to the Salelologa Market, the Lava Fields, the turtle Sanctuary and a cave of endangered birds.

Operates Monday – Saturday

Your first stop will be the colorful Salelologa Market. Explore all the market has to offer, such as arts, crafts, souvenirs, trinkets and fresh produce. Next, head up to the northern coast of Savaii to make stops at many natural attractions and areas of historical significance. You’ll see Sapapalii where Christianity was first introduced to Samoa. You will also visit coastal freshwater springs.

En route up the coast you will pass through scattered coastal villages and then reach the Saleaula lava fields created after the eruption of Mt Matavanu between 1905 and 1911. Here the old church buildings and the virgins grave are the only things to survive the lava.

Then, visit the Protected Green Turtles. This may be one of few places in the world where you can get up-close and personal with a turtle. The turtles are rescued by a family in the village. With few resources and the help of a program with the ministry of environment they do the best they can to conserve these amazing creatures.

Then visit the Letui peapea’ cave, a popular stop with cave and bird lovers. This naturally formed lavatube/cave houses a population of local swiftlet birds. Almost extinct in the earlier 90's after 2 of our worst cyclones- the swiftlet population have now recovered with a steady rise seen in pockets around the island. Lunch will be provided.

Optional Day Tour (Not Included) – Savai'i South Coast Tour

This 5 hour tour of the northern coast of Savai’i will take you to the Salelologa Market, Taga Blowholes, a Tapa Making demonstration, Afua’au Falls and more!

Operates Monday – Saturday

Your first stop will be the colorful Salelologa Market where you’ll find Lavalavas, carvings, Kava bowls, fruits and vegetables for sale at great prices. Next, head down the southern coast of Savaii to make stops at many natural attractions and areas of historical significance.

Visit the Taga blowholes (Alofaaga Blowholes) to the a spectacular site as the heavy sea swells push up against the coast to create magnificent water spouts through the Lava Tubes. Some of these spouts can be nearly 200 feet!

You’ll also stop to view a Tapa cloth or “Siapo” making in a village. The ladies here will take you through the whole process by pounding the bark of a tree through to the finished product.

Next stop at the freshwater springs and then on to Afua’au Falls which flow into a series of pools where you can swim. Lunch will be provided.

Darin was helpful and picked a real winner with Navutu Stars. It was perfect! Yatule and Qamea were also wonderful, but our favorite was Navutu. Overall, the trip planning went well with Darin. I felt that a few emails with questions were ignored or overlooked. Fiji is an amazing place with truly beautiful people and gorgeous reefs under crystal clear waters. I would advise any snorkeling lovers to put Fiji on your bucket list!

Arranged a trip to Fiji with Darin. We had a wonderful time and the trip exceeded our expectations. Every detail was arranged and in place as planned. We could not have asked for anything more. Would very highly recommend to others.

We stayed 5 nights at Paradise Resort on Tavenui and dove Rainbow Reef. Although the ride from the airport was over rough road for about an hour, the resort, people, and food were wonderful! The House Reef is "regrowing" after the 2016 Cyclone Winston, but the 30 minute boat ride to Rainbow Reef was easy and put you on magnificent dive sites, some with 100% coral coverage. It is "drift diving" so you see a lot of the sites. My favorite was the all day trip we made with two dives in the morning and the surface interval spent with a picnic lunch on a deserted island before the afternoon dive! One warning....do not expect to always be able to dive the "White Wall" as it is dependent on tides and moon cycle.
The second site we dove was the Wanananvu Beach Resort on the main island of Viti Levu. This is different in that they anchor on the Reef and the sites further away seem to be better, but you can't always get there because of wind. The diving was also terrific here with healthy coral reefs and lots of fishes. Food, room on the beach, and people were perfect!

We truly enjoyed our trip to Fiji. We travel often and About Australia made the trip easy and enjoyable by providing the travel itinerary. They were very friendly and helpful and provided the necessary travel documentation in a timely manner. We will definitely use them again. The only suggestion I would have is timing. We arrived at the hotel from San Francisco approximately 6:30 a.m. and our room was not ready until 2:00 p.m. and they could not move us to another room because they were at 110% capacity. We were quite tired from the long trip so it was very inconvenient. The same thing happened on our check-out date. We at to check-out at 11:00 a.m. however our flight did not leave until 10:10 p.m. and they were at 98% capacity so we could not get a late check-out time. I suggest working out check-in and check-out times better with the hotels for clients that have long flights and arrive very early or leave very late. That was very frustrating. That is the reason I did not give you five stars.

Fiji Travel Agent Review

Our trip was planned so carefully and perfectly. We were able to see and do everything we wanted within our time limits, and Joanne was such an asset in helping us figure out what was most important. There were no issues at all on our trip, and everything went smooth and kept us relaxed the entire vacation. Can't recommend this Travel Agency enough!

Fiji Travel Agent Review

Amazing experience! Everything was perfectly planned and laid out for us. Shout out to Stephanie M for always giving a quick reply and always being extremely helpful and friendly.

Fiji Travel Agent Review

Josh helped us put together a 2.5 week trip to Australia and Fiji and our trip was absolutely perfect! All of the day tours we went on were small, and locally run which made them even more enjoyable. They took the stress out of planning an international vacation and even helped us work through some visa hiccups. Overall, highly recommended and I couldn't have been happier with our experience.

The entire trip was a huge success. Each one of the stops on the mainland of Australia, Tasmania and both islands of New Zealand were excellent. We booked our own flight to Sydney, and when we arrived, the About Australia voucher system took over. Each one of the vouchers were very clear and concise regarding when, where and how to proceed, so that there was never a frightening moment for us. Every flight, every shuttle, and every hotel worked perfectly. All excursions but one was at or above expectations, and that was simply a mix up in dates, which was resolved immediately. We would certainly recommend About Australia to anyone visiting Australia and/or New Zealand in the future.

We stayed at the Sofitel Resort and Spa. It is a beautiful resort. The staff is fantastic, always concerned your needs are being met. Service and food is plentiful,

Wether you're there to relax or want to join in daily activities it is your choice, no pressure, just a friendly environment to do as you please.

Fiji was like every single picture we saw...lush, green and mountains. The Fijian people were as warm and hospitable as the temperatures. We were so much in our element of resting and relaxation.
The only suggestion I have, is for About Fiji to communicate better with the hotel Hilton DoubleTree Sonasaila. When we arrived at 730am, our rooms weren't ready, nor were there any accommodations for us to properly rest. We had to 'hang out' until 3 pm in the lobby.
If this is a regular occurrence, may I suggest that About Fiji mention this to your guests. Suggest guests arriving at the hotel this early be prepared. Have the hotel be better prepared for the early-arriving guests. After traveling for 20 hours, a shower would have been most welcome. (Though the warm chocolate chip cookie was SO delicious!). Thank you!

The resort was very nice, the room was large and well appointed! If you are there more than two or three days, definitely schedule excursions as you WILL get cabin fever! Snorkeling and boat trips to other islands from the marina were great!
